Claude Haiku 5.5 arrives, and GPT-6 comes to the Chat tab in ChatGPT

On October 7, Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, a small, low-cost model for high-volume work, and lowered one Claude Sonnet 5.5 price for developers. The same day, OpenAI began bringing GPT-6 to the Chat tab in ChatGPT, with a new way of answering it calls Intelligent UI. Paid plans came first, and Free and Go plans followed the next day.

What to do this week

If your staff draft in ChatGPT, answers in the Chat tab may look different this week, sometimes with charts, buttons, or forms. Your review step does not change: every name, date, and number still gets checked before anything goes out. Haiku 5.5 matters mainly if someone builds software for you that sends AI many routine requests.

About the Briefing

How to read the labels
New model
A vendor releases a model it presents as a step beyond its earlier ones, often the first of a new family. Expect it to behave differently from what you use now, and test it on your own work before relying on it.
Family addition
A new tier joins a family that already exists, usually a faster or lower-cost option. The useful question is which tier handles each of your tasks well enough at the lowest cost.
Upgrade
A newer version of a specific model, usually shown by a higher version number on the same name. Rerun tasks you already tested and compare the results.
Broader availability
Something that already exists reaches more people, plans, or apps. The change is in who can use it and where.
Pricing change
The price of something you can already use goes up or down. These changes often show up in developer prices, listed per million tokens (small pieces of text). Check current rates before you budget.
New feature
A product gains a new capability or setting. You may notice it the next time you open an app, even if you never chose a new model.
Sources and dates

Editions are written from the vendors’ own announcements. Each source shows the date we last checked it; the latest edition was prepared October 11, 2026. Product details and prices change, so confirm anything important on the vendor’s current pages before you rely on it.
